It Begins is the first episode in Season 1 of the Netflix original series, Love. It originally aired on February 19, 2016.

Plot

While recovering from nasty breakups with their exes, Mickey makes a scene at church and Gus stumbles into a confusing sexual encounter.

Synopsis

Mickey is startled when an on-and-off boyfriend sneaks through her window late at night. Somewhere else in LA, Gus is talking with his girlfriend in bed. He proposes that they move in together and she agrees. Both couples have (awkward) sex.

One month later, Mickey's boyfriend is high on cocaine and driving her nuts. She breaks up with him after he leaves, so his mom will buy him some pants. Gus gets into a fight with his girlfriend, prompting her to exclaim that she slept with someone else. He breaks up with her and leaves.

Another month later, Gus now lives in an apartment complex filled with young college students. Some invite him to a party they are having later on, after they throw a frisbee on his balcony. Mickey meets Bertie, straight from Australia, as a potential roommate. Mickey is not dissatisfied with her, so she offers her the room on the spot.

Gus works as a tutor for a child actor on a "supernatural period piece," called Witchita. He is consistently forced to make his job secondary to the production, due to pushy staff. Mickey is a program manager for a satellite radio station.
